The smallest surface in the largest room.
Radhi Chawaly, a musician from Boussalem known for the orchestral rock project ALLCHESTRA, built his first album, Hide and Seek, around the childhood game and around Zen Buddhism: losing yourself and looking for yourself, over and over. The visual answer was a single cube at the centre of the stage, used as the only projection surface. Rather than a backdrop behind the musicians, the image sits inside the band, close enough to the drums to be read as another instrument. Across the set the cube shifts from white to blue, to magenta, to a red that floods the whole stage, following the dynamics of the music. Playing a 2000-year-old Roman theatre with one lit cube is a deliberate inversion of scale: the smallest possible surface inside the largest possible room. Théâtre Antique de Carthage, 13 September 2023, opening for Myrath.
