Projection Mapping

Surfaces that already carry meaning, treated as material rather than as screens.

Mapping a building is easy to do badly. A Roman site, a medina wall or a 500 square metre exhibition surface already carries centuries of meaning, so what you project onto it either respects that or flattens it into a screen. At Uthina, the answer was to make the content chronological rather than decorative: eight chapters following the site through time, from Prehistory to a closing architectural movement, each with its own generated visual regime. At Interference, across two editions of the first light art festival in Africa, the work ran inside the historic fabric of the Medina of Tunis, where nothing is flat, nothing is white and nothing can be drilled. We handle the full chain: survey, content, mapping, show control and operation on the night. Brightness and signal are decided by context, not by preference. A LED wall indoors, twenty thousand lumens as a floor under a festival tent, twenty to forty thousand outdoors.

  • ▸Narrative structure rather than decorative loops
  • ▸Content generated in real time, so it can follow a live programme
  • ▸Survey-to-operation handled as one chain
  • ▸Specification sized for the venue, not for the render
